These notes are a collection of notes and annotations directly from A Pattern Language (by C. Alexander, S. Ishikawa, M. Silverstein et al.), a book setting up a design pattern and language for urban design and development.
I’ve read this book a couple of times, now, but never annotated it in the way I wanted to. This collection, then, is for notes related to A Pattern Language itself. It is broken into a few sections:
#pattern-languageis dedicated to broad notes and general insights about the text- Subtags are dedicated to notes about individual patterns (effectively chapters of the text). These are broken into two categories:
#super: If we think of an individual building as a structure, these are rules regarding superstructures — communities, neighborhoods, road systems, etc.#sub: Under the same thinking, these are rules for anything related to substructures — walls, windows, doors, etc.
Annotations for individual rules will likely remain private, unless I feel they’re particularly good insights or relate directly back to any of the general insights notes.
